He said that a decision on the future of RAF Lossiemouth may not be announced until June or July but assured the people of Moray that their voices had been heard loud and clear in London.

Taskforce co-chair, Lesley Ann Parker, chief executive of Moray Chamber of Commerce, said the meeting was a milestone for the bases campaign and, in particular, the fight to save RAF Lossiemouth.

"He is the No 1 person in the UK who has all the answers to questions. We raised the need for Moray to have an economic strategy response to the closure of Kinloss, and told him that keeping Lossie open would give us a huge boost in planning for the future," she said.
