Local children deliver pleas for help to First Minister

17 November 2010

Children from the Junior Committee of Archiestown Village Council have delivered a letter straight into the hands of First minister Alex Salmond asking for help in the fight to save the RAF bases in Moray.

The 14 children travelled to the Scottish Parliament and handed the letter to the First Minister outside the Debating Chamber.  The document sets out their fears and concerns about the knock-on effects on local communities if both bases close. It also highlights the threat to the future of search and rescue provision in the area and questions how the safety of climbers in the Cairngorm Mountains can be maintained.
